Orangutan workshop  Building an orangutan nest

Wildlife Wong and the Orangutan By Dr Sarah Pye

Wildlife Wong and the Orangutan front coverWhen Wildlife Wong is far away from home, in a country called Taiwan, he looks after a sad rescued orangutan called Polly. She has been stolen from her mother and kept as a pet. He vows to help save wildlife and, when he moves to Polly’s true home of Borneo, he comes face-to-face with her wild relatives. Some are angry, some are naughty, and some are nice. What will Wong do when a playful orangutan locks him in his office?

“I loved the funny stories about what the orangutans get up to in the rescue centre, they certainly are naughty!” Samuel, age 10

“We think this book is excellent for all readers who love animals and the environment. It has inspired us to want to be like Wildlife Wong and save our world’s wildlife.’ Class 4J, Buderim Mountain State School

“I learnt a lot of nature facts. 5 out of 5! Issie Thorpe, age 9

About the Author

Sarah Pye and PongoAward-winning author (and avid traveller) Dr Sarah Pye met Malaysian ecologist Dr Wong in 2012. She asked what she could do to help him save the Bornean rainforest. He replied, “do what you do best”.

Those five powerful words sparked a Doctor of Creative Arts degree, an enduring friendship, his award-winning biography, Saving Sun Bears, and a growing series of Wildlife Wong narrative nonfiction chapter books for children.

Sarah’s engaging presentations and workshops around the books’ content are often joined by her trusty puppet sidekicks!
